Lesson No. 9: Focus on Statistical Inference

Presenter: Marites B. Agustin
Date of Presentation: May 6, 2011

The focus of this report is on the Estimation of Population Means: its confidence Interval, confidence level and hypothesis testing. On this lesson, we were taught how to make hypothesis and test it with the given confidence interval and levels.

Although, in this lesson it is more on describing and understanding about the statistical Inference, however it is very helpful to us to understand better the subsequent lessons. Thank you Ma’am for giving a good start!

Lesson No. 10: Focus on Z-Test of One Sample Means
Lesson No. 11: Focus on T-test of Significance

Presenter: Mary B. Laride
Date of Presentation: May 9, 2011

On this presentation, the reporter discussed to us the following:
  1. Illustration of z-test
  2. Steps in using z-test
  3. The t-Distribution (Independent or Uncorrelated Means; Dependent or Correlated Means)
  4. The Application of t-test
The above topics are bit confusing ( at first) on how or when to use it. Besides , that is the essence of knowing it all. How then it will be used in educational research. However, upon knowing the conditions when to use these statistical treatment. Then, future research (using t-test or z-test) is not that difficult anymore.

Good thing the reporter delivered a good presentation of her topics. Good job Ma'am!

Lesson No. 12: Focus on the Analysis Of Variance

Presenter: Sheila B. Ancino
Date of Presentation: May 10,2011

The F-test and Understanding ANOVA its procedure either using Deviation Method or Raw Score Method are the topics of this whole presentation.

Like the other statistical treatment above, this parametric statistics is much complicated to analyze and manipulate since it requires much patience and careful treatment of data. The steps on getting the correct answer is not that easy.

However, upon the introduction of microsoft excel in solving it, then in just one click -the answer is there.

On her presentation, where the steps are taken every slides, it must also be given credits. It is also important to know how the answer was derived. Anyway, the key point here is how will you use or apply this statistical treatment in educational research. That must be answered soon.
